重慶市合川中學是重慶市重點中學中歷史最悠久的學校，其前身名為“合宗書院”。明朝嘉靖年間 (1531年)，為紀念宋朝理學大師周敦頤而建，距今400多年。清光緒三十年(1904年)，清政府實行新政，將“合宗書院”更名為“合州中學堂”，後又數易其名為“合川中學”。合川中學是重慶市重點中學中單點辦學規模最大的學校。學校占地300余畝，校舍建築面積9萬多平方米。現有131個教學班，其中高中89個，初中42個，教職工526人，其中研究員2人， 特級教師2人，高級教師141人，重慶市級骨幹教師19人，合川區級骨幹教師135人......

 

歷史沿革

重慶市合川中學，創辦於1904年，由重慶市重點中學合川壹中、合川二中強強合並而成的壹所高級完全中學，被譽為合川教育的“航空母艦”。
